Well, I had to do something that I never wanted to do... I had to recommend a Windows laptop over my beloved Macintosh platform. Mark this day in history... Dave would be proud.

My nephew is a big World of Warcraft (WOW) fan. So big that my sister could no longer get on her iMac to do real work as Justin was playing WOW on it all the time...it is summer vacation you know. Justin has been saving up some money and he seems to be pretty good at it as he has a Playstation 3 and a Wii. I say he is good at saving up the money, but he then spends it. I know how that is.

So now he has enough money to buy a laptop. Of course they want a MacBook so I do some research. No video card... hmmm. Not good for WOW. I look at the forums.... people are happy with the performance of the MacBook and WOW for the most part, but that is a lot of money for a 16 year old to spend to be happy 'for the most part'. I know he would be happier if he went and bought a Windows machine with a graphics card for the same price as a MacBook without one. Now he could get a MacBook Pro and that would Rock with WOW, but it's another few hundred bucks. Not good.

I called my sister up and said that he should get a Windows laptop. I had to practice saying those words a few times so I wouldn't stumble.

So he bought an HP and he is happy... and so am I. It took him 20 minutes to get on his wireless network with Vista... but that's another story.
